How to Get Your Business Quoted in Google's AI Overviews (6 Steps)
Summary
A YouTube video from Future Search AI describes a small test: the publisher asked Google's AI twelve questions San Diego homeowners commonly ask, three times each, and recorded which pages the AI Overviews quoted. The publisher reports that a local business was quoted every time on five of the six San Diego questions, and that a small family roofer whose owner wrote his own page got more of the answer than a well known competitor.
From those results the video draws six steps. Collect the questions customers actually ask, give each one its own page with the question in the title, open with a direct answer that includes a real figure, add headings for the follow-up questions, name the town, and get mentioned in community spaces such as Reddit, Nextdoor and local Facebook groups. It treats schema as groundwork rather than a requirement. The video also promotes a book by David Esau and Click Track Marketing, a San Diego agency.

Why it matters
For a local business, the claim is that being quoted in AI Overviews depends more on page structure and question matching than on site size or SEO tooling. If that holds, a small operator can compete for AI answers by writing one page per customer question with the answer in the first sentence and naming the town, without waiting for domain authority to build. It also moves off-site mentions in community forums from a reputation task to a discovery task, because those mentions may shape what AI systems pick up about a local provider. The Ahrefs and Whitespark research on AI Overview citations and local search gives outside context for these patterns, but it does not confirm this specific test.

AIOTruth judgment
The item carries an Emerging evidence status and a Value Score of 8.2. Relevance scores 10 because it speaks directly to how businesses get cited in Google's AI Overviews. Usefulness scores 7: the steps are concrete and need no special tools, but they are general page writing practices more than new technique. Evidence scores 8 because the publisher describes a repeatable method with stated question counts and repetitions, and related industry research on AI Overview citations exists. Originality scores 7, since the local, owner written angle adds something while much of the advice overlaps with existing guidance. The test is small, limited to one city, and run by parties promoting a book and an agency, and AIOTruth did not reproduce it.
